This accessibility statement applies to: https://refreshbwd.com/

This website is run by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Accessibility tools

This website includes the ReachDeck accessibility toolbar, which provides tools to help users customise their experience. These tools include options to:

  • read page content aloud
  • translate content into other languages
  • change text size and spacing
  • adjust colour contrast
  • simplify page layouts

The ReachDeck toolbar is designed to support users with a range of accessibility needs. However, it should not be relied upon as a replacement for accessible website design.

This website has been designed and built with accessibility in mind, regardless of the availability of accessibility tools.

  • Some third-party content is outside our control and may not fully meet accessibility standards

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are committed to improving the accessibility of this website and are:

  • reviewing PDF documents and replacing them with accessible HTML content where possible
  • improving alternative text for images
  • ensuring location information is always available in a text-based format as well as via maps
  • continuing to test the website against WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria

This accessibility statement will be reviewed and updated as improvements are made.
