Join us at Darwen Leisure Centre for an insightful and informative day for adults aged 50 and over. Get advice on how you can age well, and find out more about the opportunities to be more active across Blackburn and Darwen.

There will lots going on throughout the day, including a range of taster sessions for low-level activity sessions, like walking netball, football, seated exercise, Zumba and Tai-Chi. We will have Functional Fitness MOT’s to test your strength and balance, full NHS Health Checks to help spot early signs of health conditions, and flu vaccinations available too. A variety of local partners will be in attendance to offer you advice and support on how you can age well in later life.

Make sure to claim your goodie bag on arrival filled with useful materials and advice you can take home with you. Please wear comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes for walking and potentially taking part in activity sessions. We will have free prizes to be won by some of you! Make sure to visit the stalls and activities on the day, provide your feedback and be in with a chance to win! More information on the prizes will be announced soon.

How to get involved

Whether you’re looking to get moving, try something new, or looking for more information on ageing well, there’s something for everyone. This is a free event which requires no booking, turn up to Darwen Leisure when it best suits you on the day! Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes for walking and potentially taking part in activity sessions.

Spaces will be limited for the taster sessions and activities at this event, and will require you to book. Each activity will be free to book on to. A bookings page will be introduced as soon as we’ve confirmed the time and room for each activity. Spare spaces available on any session will be offered on the day of the event. Everything else taking place that isn’t on the booking page will be open for you to visit any time.
