Swimming Development

What is it?

Swimming is a full body exercise that is non weight bearing.  The benefits of regular swimming include: improved health and fitness, body tone and confidence – which can also lead to other activities such as water polo, water skiing, scuba diving, surfing etc.  Many people find improvements in their social life too.

School swimming forms a large part of the daytime programme for Swimming Development and their commitment to the development of school swimming is driven by their ASA and RLSS qualified teachers and the Swimming Development Team.

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council use the ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) National Plan for Teaching.  Taking a child on the swimming journey from complete beginner to competent, confident swimmer, in a fun relaxed and friendly environment.  Their aim is to get you in the water and give you the skills to enjoy it all your life!

Who is it for?

Aimed at non swimmers, swimmers and anyone who wants to take part in aquatic sessions.
