Introducing some of our current re:fresh volunteers
Current volunteer roles: Session leaders (Walks)
Years of service: Susan five years, Ian seven years
Brief description of current role: Ian leads the walks as well as planning and checking the routes are safe for walkers whilst Susan is a back marker, maing sure nobody gets lost or is in difficulty.
How has your role changed during the pandemic? During most of the pandemic organised walks like ours were not permitted. Since restrictions have been lifted and we have begun walking again we now have to be aware of any government guidelines that we need to follow and reminding people about social distancing and using hand sanitizer.
What do you enjoy most about being a re:fresh volunteer? Meeting new people, socialising with friends and seeing people enjoy the walkig and the outdoors.
What would you say to someone thinking of volunteering? If you feel you would like to be a volunteer come and give it a try, it may be just what you are looking for. Come and have a go you will enjoy it, it’s a great way to meet new people.
