Introducing some of our re:fresh volunteers

Current volunteer role: Session leader (Walks)

Years of service: Eight years

Brief description of current role: I lead a one hour walk from Witton Park and support as a back marker on a longer walk. I have helped out sometimes with health events and social events.

How has your role changed during the pandemic?  My role changed because I wasn’t able to lead on a walk due to being in a national lockdown, I was able to get involved in another role of delivering food parcels to pregnant mums as well as getting involved with community testing when covid was at its peak. It will be great to restart all of the activities again for the public to help people with their mental wellbeing and becoming more physically active.

What do you enjoy most about being a re:fresh volunteer? I have really enjoyed my volunteer role as it’s great for getting out and about, giving something back into the community and meeting new people, the health benefits are great too.

What would you say to someone thinking of becoming a re:fresh volunteer? Just say give it ago I am sure you’ll not regret it.
