Our LD/A sessions are aimed to provide opportunities to increase physical activity and exercise but in a fun and supportive way, either through games sessions or by tailored gym support from our team. These sessions have gone from strength to strength and offer a wide range of activities for clients to get involved with; these include:
- Â Cycling for all abilities
- Multi-sport activities
- Dodgeball
- Football
- Dancing
- Walks around BwD
Supporting these sessions are less about knowledge of the activity but more about a focus on the clients and supporting them to be active in our session. An induction for each session/activity will be completed prior to joining our team.
Key Tasks
- To support & encourage active participation
- To be respectful of the client’s needs and remain non-judgemental
- To promote the benefits of physical activity
- To offer any assistance/support to clients throughout the session
- To assist the session leader as necessary
- Ensure the clients are safe at all times
- Log volunteering hours via an on-line computer system

Training
- A DBS is required for all roles with re:fresh
- Introduction to Autism course (Adult Learning)
- Volunteer Learning Passport access (e-learning)
- Emergency First Aid Course
